Your childhood dream of being whisked away to a real life Candy Land may very well come true, thanks to the exemplary folks at the Penitentiary Glen Nature Center in Kirtland. Now through January 3, visitors can stroll through a "life-sized game board" and "discover the many 'natural' flavors" of nature, such as maple syrup, honey, and berries. Players travel along, drawing cards and moving from space to space along the Rainbow Trail, through the Apple Orchard, and over to Granma's Nut House.Youre actually going through the seasons, and you become the game pieces," a Wild Days of Winter naturalist told Babble recently. "Its reinterpreting a classic childhood game but, because this is a nature center, we want to bring nature into it. But the best part is that, instead of just walking around looking at stuff, you become part of it.There's also a "smore-nament craft-making station and refreshments to be had in the Snowshoe Lodge. We'll see you there. Photos courtesy of the Lake Metroparks Facebook page.
