Journey, Doobie Brothers and Dave Mason Performing at Blossom
Journey and The Doobie Brothers brought down the house at Blossom Music Center last night. It isn’t very often that you hear two bands live, that sound like they’re singing from a recorded album. The Doobie Brothers and Journey were the exception.
As Journey started their 90-miniute set with the hit song, “Separate Ways,” singer Arnel Pineda danced on stage, wowing the crowd with his moves. Tracks such as “Stone in Love” and “Any Way You Want It” also received a warm reception from the audience. The hits kept coming into the encore, which featured “Lovin’,Touchin’, Squeezin,’” for which Pineda got audience members to wave their arms to the bridge of the song as they sang it over and over again. Openers the Doobie Brothers began their 70-minute set with “Jesus is Just Alright” and then segued into playing more of their crowd-pleasing hits, including “World Gone Crazy,” which featured pitch perfect vocal harmonies.
