Before you head to your local pet store to purchase a new puppy or kitten, check out these animals awaiting your love and attention at the Cleveland Animal Protective League (1729 Willey Avenue in Tremont, 216-771-4616). The Cleveland APL has been working to match animals with loving homes since 1913 and does ask that you consider the financial responsibilities of pet ownership and be 18 years or older to adopt an animal.

Dog adopters will need to purchase a dog license if they reside in Cuyahoga County. The adoption fees for cats and dogs vary based on breed, species and training but all adoption packages include: spray/neuter surgery, initial vaccines, treatment for worms and fleas, collar and APL tag, post-adoption health exam donated by a local vet, a travel box for cat adoptions, a leash for dog adoptions and a species-specific portfolio with a wealth of information about your new pet.
