Edgewater Live When: Thursdays. Continues through Aug. 11 Two years ago, the Cleveland Metroparks launched its extremely popular Edgewater LIVE Thursday night happy hour concert series. The event returns this year; the concerts take place from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. every Thursday night. In addition to featuring a performance by a local band, the events feature yoga, stand-up paddleboarding and cornhole. And those ubiquitous food trucks will be on hand as well. Its free.
Tri-C JazzFest Outdoor Festival When: Fri., June 24 Some 18 bands will play on two outdoor stages at the 37th annual Tri-C JazzFest Cleveland. Most events are ticketed, but free performances at the U.S. Bank Plaza will take place between 1 p.m. and 1 a.m. today and tomorrow.
The 3rd Annual Ohio Pin Up Queen Pageant When: Fri., June 24 Six contestants compete tonight for the title of Ohio Pin Up Queen at the third annual Pin Up Queen Pageant that takes place at 7:30 at the Beachland Ballroom. Cece Noir (Ohio PinUp Queen 2014) and Ellie St. Cyr will perform along with amazing entertainment from a cast of star studded performers. VIP tickets are $20 and include a chance to vote. General Admission is $10 in advance and $15 at the door. All proceeds will go to Dare2Care, and members of that group will be present at the show to collect donations and provide information about their organization.
Cleveland Pizza Fest When: Fri., June 24 Formerly Clevelands PIZZA Bake-Off, the Cleveland Pizza Fest, which kicks off today at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds in Berea gives pizza lovers the opportunity to sample slices from 15 area restaurants as they compete for the title of Best Pizza on the NorthCoast. There will also be a classic car show, a Bike Night, pizza eating contests, kids zone, a 5K run/walk and music from local and regional performers. The event runs from 5 p.m. to midnight today and from noon to midnight tomorrow, from noon to 8 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $5. clevelandpizzfest.com
Hypnotic Brass Ensemble When: Sat., June 25 Hypnotic Brass Ensemble freely mix the brass band with generous doses of hip-hop, soul and funk. Praised by The Los Angeles Times, the group blends several genres into a high-energy and entertaining performance. With music featured in The Hunger Games, you won't want to miss their performance tonight at Evans Amphitheater at Cain Park at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 to $15.
Solstice 2016 When: Sat., June 25 For the eighth annual Solstice, the Cleveland Museum of Art's signature summer event, guests will once again have an opportunity to enjoy dynamic and cutting-edge music from around the world. Museum galleries will be open late into the night too. Acts scheduled to perform include disco and electronic music pioneer Giorgio Moroder, the Mexico City-based Latin dance band Centavrvs, the Congolese rumba act L'Orchestra Afrisa International, Brazils Luísa Maita and London-based electronic musician Sara Abdel-Hamid (aka Ikonika). Dante Carfagna, the collector/curator behind the groundbreaking Boddie Recording Company box set of Cleveland singles from the '60s and '70s, returns with his crates of obscure 45s. He spun at the very first Solstice in 2009. The event takes place tonight at 8. Tickets are sold out, but you might find them through various ticket brokers.
Euclid Wind Festival When: Sat., June 25 This years Euclid Wind Festival features helicopter tours of the Lake Erie Shoreline (early reservations needed, expected to sell out), tethered hot air balloon rides (also expected to sell out), drone show and simulation, Dr. URawesome (Guinness World Record holder for Worlds Largest Bubble), aerial-acrobat dance by Jasmine Dragons, a performance by Ulterior Motive on the beach, inflatables and activities for the kids and much more. Everything takes place at Sims Park from 3 to 8 p.m. today. Free.
John Evans When: Sun., June 26 In his shows, comedian John Evans, who has previously opened for comedians such as George Carling, Dave Chappelle and Lewis Black, jokes about his various personal experiences, such as his scatting talents, his interesting dating and his rules for shopping at a thrift store. He performs tonight at 7 at Hilarities. Tickets are $13 and $18.
Tropical Sundays When: Sundays A weekly summer celebration, Now That's Class's Tropical Sundays features cornhole and basketball in the club's back parking lot and exclusive Tropical Sunday cocktails including Pimms, Paulitos Puerto Rican Punch, MiMonsters, Cucumber Bloody Marys and Bloody Tooth. The club promises "many more surprises and activities" too. The event starts at 3 today. Admission is free.
Woman in the Moon When: Sun., June 26 In the 1928 Fritz Lang film Spies, Rudolph Klein-Rogge portrays an evil mastermind whose goal is world domination. A government agent attempts to stop his plots in this exciting film. It screens at 6:15 tonight and at 6:15 on Friday night at the Cleveland Museum of Art as part of the museums series on German director Fritz Lang, famous for having helmed films such as Metropolis and M. The museum will show a new 2k digital restoration of the movie. Tickets are $10 for general admission, $8 for CMA members.
